08NovTimberland Volunteers’ Joint Effort in Emergency Renovation of Mark Memorial Home

The Lotteries Fund has given the Society a grant of HK$15 million for the Major Renovation of Mark Memorial Home but the renovation can only commence early next year. Mark Memorial Home has never undergone any renovation since 1993 and wall paint was seriously affected by humid weather and flaking off, which has resulted in a shabby physical living environment of our children
After learning about the situation, a group of enthusiastic volunteers from Timberland decided to carry out an emergency refurbishment work for the children before the Major Renovation. 130 Timberland’s volunteers came to Mark Memorial Home on November 8, 2019 to complete the work within school hours. The emergency refurbishment work took only a day and lasted from 9:00 am to 5:30pm, covering an area of 15,000 square feet. They removed furniture, scrapped and painted walls, and pasted wallpaper on the walls. The material cost was only$8,000 but the manpower input was great with generous love and concern , and a whole day of hard work to make the Home shine and bright now.In addition, this emergency refurbishment has ignited the love of other donors to sponsor four two-year student aid programmes. Timberland also promised to donate quality mattresses to Mark Memorial Home. We would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to the enthusiastic volunteers and donors for their care for our children. They have made a sharp difference in their living environment.
